Core drilling

Why diamond cutting instead of breaking

Jackhammers and breakers remove concrete by shattering it. That works for a driveway; it does not work two feet from a post-tension tendon, above an occupied office, or on an edge that must be re-formed and poured against. Diamond cutting removes concrete along an exact line, leaves the remaining structure untouched, and keeps noise and vibration low enough for occupied buildings.

In practice most Miami projects choose cutting for one of four reasons: precision (the opening size is on a drawing), structure (the engineer limits vibration and overcut), occupancy (the building stays in use — see night work), or speed (a sawn edge is ready for the next trade the same day).

Can structural walls and slabs be cut safely?

How loud is it? Can tenants stay in the building?

Diamond sawing is a steady mechanical noise rather than percussive banging, and coring is quieter still. Occupied-building work is standard practice, usually with containment and often on night windows.

Do you handle debris and slurry?

Both are line items to agree in advance: slurry gets vacuumed and disposed of legally (never into storm drains — see the slurry guide), and cut sections are hauled or staged as the request specifies.

Concrete cutting vs demolition — which am I asking for?

If the concrete must separate along exact lines and the rest stays, that is cutting. If sections also need breaking, rigging, and hauling, that is selective demolition — usually a cut-first, break-second sequence.
